Together Craft Joinery

About · Custom cabinetry for Glasgow flats

M-01 · ORIGIN

Two bench trades that merged under one Buchanan Street lease

Together Craft Joinery began when cabinetmaker Isla Kerr and site joiner Callum Reid shared a short lease behind Buchanan Street in 2018. Isla had been building kitchen carcasses for West End landlords; Callum specialised in scribing fitted furniture into out-of-plumb tenement alcoves.

They kept separate benches for a year, then folded the work under one name when clients started asking for a single team that could measure, cut, finish, and hang without handing drawings between firms.

M-02 · ORG CHART

Nested roles across workshop and site

The chart below mirrors how we staff a typical Glasgow commission. Leaf nodes are people who touch timber or tape measures; parent nodes hold scheduling and finish decisions.

  • Together Craft Joinery — studio
    • Workshop Floor — Buchanan Street
      • Isla Kerr — carcass & door lead
      • Mei Chen — CNC nesting & edge banding
      • Tomás Byrne — finishing bay
    • Site Crew — flats across Glasgow
      • Callum Reid — measure & hang lead
      • Aisha Rahman — install second
    • Client Desk [email protected]
      • Nia MacLeod — schedules & samples
M-03 · PHILOSOPHY

Why we favour carcass modules over one-piece fitted walls

Modular carcasses survive Glasgow stairwells better than oversized single frames. We build in transportable widths so doors and shelves can be carried up closes without scarring plaster or forcing a crane onto a lane that already hosts bins.

When a flat changes hands, modular boxes can be reconfigured rather than ripped out. That matters in Merchant City buy-to-let stock where kitchens turn over every few years.

M-04 · MATERIALS HABIT

Timber choices that suit damp Clyde air

We stock birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF for carcasses that sit against external walls. Solid oak and ash appear on door faces when clients want grain that ages with heating cycles rather than vinyl wraps that peel in steamy kitchens.

Finish coats are sprayed in our bay so edges receive the same film build as faces. Site touch-ups stay limited to scribe lines and screw covers.

M-05 · COMMUNITY

Where we work beyond the workshop door

Most of our calendar sits inside a ring from Partick through Hillhead to the Merchant City, with occasional day trips to Southside flats when stairs and parking allow a full carcass delivery.

We are not a franchise and we do not subcontract finishing. If you email [email protected] you reach Nia or Isla directly, not a call centre queue.
